Application Procedures:
Do students take an entrance test?
Yes, students (K5Y – G12) are required to take an admission assessment. Please contact Office of Admissions for the assessment schedule.
How do you determine the enrollment grade?
St. Mary’s International school decide the enrollment grade based on the birth year of students. Any special case please contact Office of Admissions for the support and guideline.
What curriculum does St. Mary's follow?
Our Pre-Kindergarten and Grade One Preparatory Programs utilize The Creative Curriculum®, a comprehensive, research-based curriculum, that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical-thinking skills. Our Korean support classes follow the Nuri Curriculum (Korean National Kindergarten Curriculum).
When does the school year begin and end?
Our school year starts in mid-August and ends in mid-June.
What are the school hours?
- Instructional time: 8:15 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Monday–Friday), except for the early dismissal at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
- The after-school program starts at 3 p.m. (except for Wednesday).
What is your class size?
Our classroom is designed for maximum of 20 students (15 students for Kindergarten).
Does St. Mary’s International School have an ELL program?
Yes, English language learners are provided support by qualified ELL teachers.
Does St. Mary’s International School have a bi-lingual program?
Our program is an International, English language program. However, for Korean families who would like their children to continue to develop their Korean language abilities, we have a Korean-language support track in our Pre-Kindergarten and Grade One Preparatory Programs.
Do you have counseling services?
Yes, we have qualified counselors to support children and families.
Does St. Mary's provide special learning support?
No, St. Mary’s does not have available formal services for students with special learning needs or specific learning disabilities (i.e. significant limited intellectual ability, severe physical handicaps or pronounced social, emotional or behavioral difficulties). Admission to St. Mary’s International School is contingent on a match between the student’s needs and the level of service available.
Does the school offer bus and lunch services?
Yes. Bus service is offered throughout Hanoi based on our current available routes and seat. Please see the Bus policy. Our cafeteria offers daily nutritionally balanced meals (Western and Asian choice). Also, the microwave is available for students (except for Kindergarten) who choose to bring their own lunch
Do students wear school uniforms?
Yes, our students wear school uniform every Monday. Please refer to St. Mary’s uniform policy.
Do you have health care services for students?
Yes, we have a Student Health Center (SHC) to ensure students’ health and safety.
Does school offer discounts in tuition and fees?

Do your school have Text book?
Yes, textbooks are managed by our school library. Textbooks will be distributed to students prior to their 1st day of school and are included in tuition costs. However, parents may pay the compensation fee if your child loses or damages their books.
What extracurricular activities do your school offer?
St. Mary’s provides a wide range of after school activities e.g. soccer, basketball, STEAM, swimming, martial arts, gymnastics, art & crafts. Each quarter parents are sent list of the ECAs being offered.
Where are St. Mary's teachers from?
Our Homeroom and core subject teachers (Maths, ELA, Social Studies/ Humanities, Science) are North American. We also hire teachers from Canada, the U.K., Australia, and other parts of the world. We have Vietnamese teachers fluent in English instructing Vietnamese language and culture classes, Music, Art, and PE as well. Additionally, we have a Korean teacher for Korean-language support.
What is the Withdrawal Process?
If a student is to withdraw from St. Mary’s International School, written notification must be sent to the Office of Admissions at:

Students withdrawing from St. Mary’s International School at any time must complete exit /clearance procedures. These procedures include written confirmation of the exit date, the return of textbooks and library books, school equipment (if any), and the settlement of all fees. The procedures need to be cleared before certificates, transcripts, school letters of recommendation, current year school reports, and examination certificates, where appropriate, can be obtained from St. Mary’s International School. If you are aware that you will be leaving but uncertain of the exact date, please contact the Office of Admissions.
It is required 30 days of written notice before the withdrawal (last date at the school). Once the exit procedures are completed, the necessary refund of tuition based on the refund policies will be completed within ten (10) business days.
If a student withdraws during a quarter, there will be no reimbursement of any fees relating to that quarter in which they leave.
